Today
we were visited by three generations of the Jacoby family (see
picture at right). Ben remembers the work as being way too much
for teenagers (one of his jobs was moving the meadow and the baseball
field) , but Marc remembers idyllic summers.
Ben Jacoby grew up
with his parents in Shael's house until he got married, when his
father built the house Jean and Sue live in for him and his wife.
In answer to a question about the unique nature of each bungalow,
Ben smiled and said: "My father was a baker." Nathan
planted all the trees here ... including the apple tree, the only
remaining reminder of an attempt to turn this difficult land into
an orchard. Really nice people.
When Nathan died, Ben and his brother eventually sold the property
to someone called Markell, who
tried to run it for two years (and put in all the pink bathroom
fixtures), and then gave up, and sold it to Shael. (See Annice
Jacoby's comments.)
The picture of the bungalows below is a total fake ... look

from the 60s.
